In 2015, Costa Rica’s Tourism Ministry and the PANIAMOR Foundation started a campaign called Unforgettable Costa Rica to fight Costa Rica’s image as a child sex tourism destination. Now we are joining efforts to fight this.
Unfortunately, it is not a secret that in certain circles, Costa Rica is known as a sexual tourism destination. However, as a country and as citizens of our beloved land we are not going to allow this plague to get to our children.
The campaign called “Unforgettable Costa Rica” involves a website that for several months has been getting into different dating websites and sex forums with fake accounts. The messages given by these fake users invited to visit the website to meet the “youngest girls” targeting the sex predators.
Clicking on one of these links takes the person to a website that looks like a conventional hotel or travel site displaying usual links to accommodations, dining & nightlife, spa & wellness, and others including one of “Meet the girls.”
But once they click in, the pictures of the hotels are prisons; the “dining” are jail plates, etc. Warning visitors that adults that engage sex with minors will end up in jail.
Us at Camino Travel we support any effort done to stop this sad plague against children and teenagers.
Costa Rica is not only a beautiful place, filled with gorgeous landscapes and amazing adventures, but a country with high levels of education, that decided to abolish its army more than 60 years ago to give our children a peaceful, safe future.
At Camino Travel, we feel disgusted by the fact that this epidemic is hitting our children and our land, and we do support any effort to fight and win this war.
