- Unlike other hikes, the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Biological Reserve has a special value. It is managed by the administrative board of the Santa Elena Public High School and a percentage of the money raised is destined for the education of the youth in the community.

This Cloud Forest has an area of 310 hectares of land. Within this territory you can find the source of the Caño Negro River, the Chiquito River, and the Aguas Gatas Creek (intrinsic part of Arenal Hydroelectric Plant).
In the company of an expert guide you will take a 4 hour hike through the cloud forest, walking on trails and admiring (as well learning all about) the splendidly diverse flora and fauna.

Is it all flat or is there climbing involved?
It is very broken terrain. There are several hills and some stairs to climb.
