As the United States continues to climb out of the Great American Recession, tourists are busy planning their 2015 vacation. Latin America is emerging as a favorite region for U.S. tourists to visit, and Costa Rica is returning to the annual list compiled by online travel site Priceline.com.
According to Priceline, Costa Rica is the fifth nation on the Top Ten list of international travel destinations for U.S. tourists in 2015. This is based on the number of advanced hotel room bookings made on this major travel reservation and vacation planning website. Costa Rica vacations did not make the list in 2014, which was probably due to the rising cost of travel expenses in our country. However, it is important to note that inflation is also affecting other top vacation spots. Here is the full press release from Priceline.com:
NORWALK, Conn., Dec. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — As the New Year rolls around, priceline.com’s latest data reveals that the majority of travelers will be heading to warm-weathered cities, which dominated its annual list of top 2015 destinations, based on advanced hotel reservations. From Orlando to Oahu, Costa Rica and Barcelona, travelers are in favor of ditching the snow for sandy beaches and enjoying a relaxing getaway.
“Within the U.S., Las Vegas continues to be a hot spot in the New Year, followed by New Orleans, Miami and Fort Lauderdale – all three cities flew to the top of this year’s list of places to visit,” said priceline.com travel editor Brian Ek. “If interested in traveling abroad, must-visit international destinations include Cancun, Cozumel, Costa Rica and Los Cabos, demonstrating that Latin America is a trendy travel hot spot for 2015.”
