This perfectly cone shaped volcano rises 4.899 feet above the sea level. Arenal was active since 1968 until 2010, when the volcano entered in a mild activity period, mainly with steam fumaroles visible from everywhere around when clear.

On your way there, you will ride through the heavenly landscape of Lake Arenal, a manmade lake that provides water for a hydroelectric plant and for irrigation in the lowlands of Guanacaste province during the dry season.

As an option, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a hiking tour in the surroundings of the volcano, and get to see the volcano and its pictureque surroundings from different overviews.  After that, you will head over to the mineral hot springs.

During the tour it is possible to spot toucans, guans, oropendolas, monkeys, and coatis.

You will be traveling through very diverse areas, from the dry tropical forests and regions to the luscious humid rainforests, full of wildlife and amazing jungles.

Driven on a road around the gorgeous Arenal Lake you will be able to see the volcano from the distance and, weather depending, we will be stopping for you to take pictures here and there.

As soon as we get to the area of the volcano, there is an optional hike tthrough the rainforest and into the old lava fields and then you will have all the time left to soak in one  the natural hot springs of the region.

The last part of the tour is a delicious dinner and then travel back to your hotel.

Actually if it rains chances to see the volcano are higher, because clouds clear up and when you are in the hot springs rain makes them really comfortable.

Do they take credit cards. euros or U.S. dollars?

In any of the places where you may want to buy something they take the usual credit cards and U.S. dollars are taken as much as CRC colones.Euros may present a problem, just like everywhere in Costa Rica.

Should I bring a towel, and where do we keep our stuff while in the pools?

In the hot springs complex they do give you a towel and locker key for a small amount of money as a deposit. When you give back towel and locker key they will refund the deposit.
