With its broad white sand beaches and its first class surf, Santa Teresa attracts visitors from all over the world. The beach is filled with a series of shady hideaways, created where the exuberant rainforest borders the shore. Santa Teresa is the opposite of a cluttered tourist hot spot; instead of high-rise buildings, visitors will find undisturbed wooded hills and uninterrupted coastal views.

It boasts a variety of restaurants and bars, as well as vacation rentals and hotels for travellers of all tastes and budgets.

Because the superb surf is the main attraction of the area, Santa Teresa offers surfer-oriented accommodations as well as surf camps and several surf schools. The latter cater to all ages as well as to surfers of all levels of experience. For surf beginners, the breaks of Santa Teresa and Carmen Beach are the best places to learn.

Nonetheless, Santa Teresa offers much to those not interested in surfing. The beach ranks as one of the most beautiful in the whole of Costa Rica. The area also boasts long stretches of pristine coastline, making for magnificent walking expeditions.
