San José 2 Nights / 3 Days
The ideal first and last leg of your vacation
Prices from $132.00USD** p/p

Camino Travel has come up with this itinerary that can be used as the first or last leg of your visit to Costa Rica; then again, you can also include it in the middle!
Costa Rica's "Valle Central" and surrounding highlands form the cultural and geographical base of the country. It consists of a fertile upland basin inhabited by approximately two-thirds of the country's population. It is also the home of the four most important cities in the country: San Jose (Costa Rica’s capital) and the provincial capitals of Cartago, Heredia and Alajuela, each with its own character and sense of identity. All these together make up the most economically productive region of the country.
The itinerary would go as follows:

Day 1:
When you arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport, you will be greeted by a Camino Travel agent. We will assist you with your luggage and take you to your San José hotel.

Day 2:
You can spend the day at your leisure, taking part in any activities that catch your interest, such as visiting the National Theatre and museums (Gold Museum, Jade Museum, National Museum, etc.), white water rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, rain and cloud forest hiking and mountain biking, as well as visits to butterfly farms, botanical gardens, picturesque towns and coffee plantations. Besides all this, the city also provides a good opportunity for shopping, sightseeing and enjoying nightlife.

Day 3:
Depending on what you wish to do next on your itinerary, you can spend the morning at your leisure or continue your journey to another selected destination.

San José area

Dense in population in comparison to the rest of the country, the Valle Central shelters one of every four Costa Ricans & immigrants. It is also home to the four most important cities in the country: San José, the capital city of Costa Rica, and the provincial capitals of Cartago, Heredia and Alajuela, together providing the most economically productive region, and gathering the main political and social institutions, as well as the main health centres. The average temperature in the valley is 24ºC (77ºF) all year-round, and the altitude ranges from 2000 to 5000 feet (600 to 1500 m).
