Day 1: Meet & Greet
You will be welcomed at the airport by a guide of Camino
Travel, who will hand over to you our information package,
including documentation on Costa Rica, a map, brochures
of properties and attractions as well as recommendations
what to bring and wear to the excursions. Your vouchers
you will receive as well with this package. During the
transfer from the airport to your hotel, the guide will
do a general introduction of Costa Rica, including tips,
routes and recommendations. Overnight in San
José.
Day 2: Day
visit to choose
(B,L) Today you can choose
from one of the following tours into the surroundings
of the San José and the Central Valley.
Visit to
Poás Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Garden
The impressive, active Poás Volcano has one of
the largest craters in the world - 1.5 Km / 0.94 miles
wide. Besides walking to visit the crater's sightseeing
point, you may also wish to wander through the cloud
forest to the nearby Botos Lagoon, a former crater which
today is a picturesque lagoon. The viewing terrace provides
a bird's-eye view not only 320 m (1050 ft) down into
the bowels of the volcano, with its greenish sulfuric
pool, but also a magnificent view of the northern lowlands.
Afterwards, continue to La Paz Waterfall Garden, offering
treks to some beautiful waterfalls, as well as an orchid
garden and humming bird gallery where visitors can observe
these birds in their nature habitat. This location also
boasts a marvelous view of the Poás Volcano. The tour, that is suitable for all ages, includes: roundtrip transportation, bilingual guide, breakfast,
lunch and entrance fee.
Canopy tour
in San José
La Montaña The Canopy is located in San Jose de la Montaña,
only 45 minutes from San Jose, in the mountainous forests
bordering Braulio Carrillo and Barva Volcano national
parks. This area is home to an abundant population of
birds and wildlife. The canopy tour allows you to roam
around the treetops, giving you a "Birds Eye View" of
the tropical forest. You will leap from platform to
platform on a special system of steel cables with the
use of professional climbing gear (harnesses and pulleys
designed for your safety). The platforms are set up
at an altitude from 15 to 25 meters (45-75 feet), the
length of the cables ranges from 20 to 95 meters, (60-285
feet) and will challenge your spirit and sense of adventure.
A specialized guide will be with you throughout the
tour to make it a truly memorable experience. The
tour includes: roundtrip transportation, bilingual
guide, entrance fee, equipment and is suitable for children
from two years old on.
Sarapiquí
white water rafting trip
This narrow, low-volume river is ideal for white-water
novices, as well as families, all of whom will enjoy
its moderately flowing rapids, interspersed with tranquil
stretches. The journey is also excellent for bird-watchers
and other nature lovers, as the river stretches its
way through lush vegetation. Do not miss this classic
tropical river experience! You will be picked up from
your San José hotel between 6:00 and 6:45 a.m., driving
approximately 2½ hours to the river put-in. A traditional
breakfast is served at a restaurant en route. After
a short safety briefing, you will rig your raft and
begin the journey downriver. River time: approximately
2½ - 3 hours, depending on the water level. Lunch is
served on the banks of the river. Take out will be in
the afternoon, at which time you can change into dry
clothes before your return to San José at approximately
5:00 or 6:00 p.m. Trip length: 9 miles. Minimum age:
10 years old. Departures: daily, June - December 15. Included: breakfast, lunch, use of
rafting equipment, English-speaking guide, round-trip
transportation from San José.
