TOURS FROM TAMARINDO
Villages of Santa Cruz & Guaitil
A visit to the villages of Santa Cruz and Guaitil will give you an idea about Costa Rica’s history and way of life. Santa Cruz has a nice little church, located in front of the central plaza that is characteristic to many Latin American towns. The people living in Santa Cruz are mainly farmer families that have theirs lands around the nearby town. Afterwards you will visit the village of Guaitil which is a small village located just outside of Santa Cruz, the primary center of Costa Rican folklore where descendents of the Chorotega Indians manufacture beautiful pottery, following the ancient traditions of its folk.
In this town, people make clay pots by hand, decorate them with the earth´s natural colors and fire them in giant wood-burning ovens, just as their ancestors, the Chorotega Indians, did. The Chorotegas, is a group of Indians who ruled the land between Lake Nicaragua and the Nicoya Peninsula.
You will visit Santa Cruz and if we get there by lunchtime, you will have the chance to visit a really typical restaurant (lunch is not included).
