Also on offer is a full day tour combining the Irazú Volcano with a visit to the famous Lankaster Gardens, where an impressive variety of orchids and a colourful display of tropical plants may be viewed. In the lush green valley of Orosi (the site of the country’s first Spanish settlement) you will have the chance to visit the colonial church and monastery built in 1742 and the ruins of Ujarrás, the second church to be built in Costa Rica.
