The late-afternoon Arenal Volcano tour transports guests to the active northwest side of the volcano. It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife, magnificent lava rock formations and the Arenal Lake. During the tour, the experienced guides will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of this majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park. The tour continues with a relaxing stop at the Ecotermales mineral hot spring. You enter a private gate and travel 1 km through deep woods before seeing fairy lights twinkling through the darkness. To preserve the intimacy, it is done by reservation only. Doña Mireya Hidalgo has an open-air kitchen where she prepares a delicious traditional Costa Rican dinner (reservation required) with beef from their own cattle. Here guests will feel like they are in her home. Her parents were among the founders of La Fortuna and owned the farm long before discovering their hot springs. The pools are in the middle of the lush jungle and their cattle farm; clean hot spring mineral water enters the large pool and flows out the other end, down the river. There are 3 small pools where cascading falls give a natural massage. Behind one waterfall there is a natural sauna.
What to bring:Swimsuit, towel, walking shoes, sandals, camera and insect repellent.
Includes: Roundtrip transportation from your hotel in Arenal, English speaking guide, park fee, storage for your belongings at Ecotermales, use of the showers, and dinner.
