Day 1:
You’ll be picked up by Camino Travel’s driver for the ride to Sarapiqui, travelling across the impressive Braulio Carrillo National Park. If the weather is good, you’ll be able to enjoy the spectacular views of this gorgeous rainforest, stretching endlessly across the mountains. Once you’re settled in your hotel, you’ll have the afternoon free to choose from optional activities: hiking, horseback riding, canopy touring or just relaxing at your hotel pool. Overnight at Sarapiquí.

Day 2:
After breakfast, you’ll take a short drive to the nearby town of Puerto Viejo of Sarapiquí, where you will board a boat for a ride down the Sarapiquí River. You will come across some spectacularly stunning views and abundant fauna, so we highly recommend you bring a camera. The professional naturalist guide that will accompany you on the tour will help you appreciate the beauty and the diversity of the fauna and flora of the Sarapiquí rainforest. You’ll return to your hotel for lunch and afterwards, you can spend the afternoon at your leisure exploring the surrounding area. Overnight at Sarapiquí.

Day 3:
You can spend the morning at your leisure, enjoying the tropical surroundings and relaxing or taking part in any other activities that catch your attention. Afterwards, you’ll return to San José or continue your journey to another selected destination.

Sarapiquí area

Located just 1½ hours from San Jose, you will find Sarapiqui, a region blessed with its abundant flora, fauna and natural rivers. The area will certainly enchant you with its dense vegetation and local countryside flavor. The constant rain keeps the region green year round. A trip to Sarapiquí will take you through scenic settings, ideal for picture taking and along the way, you will pass by Braulio Carrillo National Park, banana plantations and bamboo thickets.
The contact with locals is an excellent cultural experience and we are sure that it will enrich your visit greatly. The people of the area usually work the land; however, you will also find a number of scientists living in this area. Sarapiquí is one of the most bio-diverse regions in the world and La Selva Biological Station shelters researchers from many different countries, and is sponsored by national and international universities and ecological foundations.
