Rincón De La Vieja Volcano area

The surroundings of the Rincón de la Vieja National Park (located in the north of Guanacaste Province) are some of the most particular in the country. Combining tropical dry forest with enchanting waterfalls, the area is characterized by bubbling mud pots, steaming vents in the earth, hot springs and a whole host of wildlife. Still relatively undiscovered, the region is starting to attract more visitors. Within the area, different species of birds have been sighted, as well as a number of mammals including red brocket deer, collared peccary and agouti. Insects are very numerous and include four species of the abundant and beautiful morpho butterflies. Both animal and plant life combine in the region to offer an amazing trip.
