FAMILY TRIPS
FAMILIES WITH TEENAGERS
Holidays with families who have teenagers, are an excellent opportunity to share and change the routine. At Camino Travel we know that to travel with small children is very different than traveling with adolescents and for that reason, we have designed holidays that consider the necessities from parents as well as young people, in such a way, that the visit to Costa Rica will be a true unforgettable experience!
Usually, young people look for new experiences and adventures, at the same time they want to be related to people of his same age and have some fun. Therefore, it is important that when parents are planning their trip, they leave some space to their children so that they can make suggestions about the places and activities they would like to experience; it is even important to assign them some tasks, so they really feel involved in all the planning.
Another aspect that has to be considered is that although some parents are interested in visiting historical places and museums, it is possible that the young people look for activities that provide them with a little more adrenalin; so it is very important to plan a balanced itinerary, where there is a little of everything.
In Costa Rica, we have the advantage that there are several activities that can be combined depending on the level of adventure desired. Also, there are places and hotels that will allow to make your itinerary more flexible, so while some are enjoying some activities, others can be simply relaxing and enjoying the beach, the forest or the hotel facilities where you are staying.
To travel with your family is an excellent way to know other people, to increase the knowledge of history, culture and societies different from their own, to enjoy the beauties of nature and to make conscience about the need to take care of it, within many other options.

Some practical suggestions that you may consider:
- It is important that during the trip, parents allow their children to have certain independence to make activities with other young people. A good way to avoid conflicts is to define a schedule which all the family must meet, for example, to meet at breakfast and dinner.
- A good idea is that the young people bring their personal entertainment, such as music, books and cards, among others.
- Young people like to feel free, for that reason it is important not to share the same room and have contiguous rooms with their parents. That is why it is important to reserve hotels in advance.
