El Encanto de la Piedra Blanca
This tour aims to give visitors a glimpse into the culture and rural way of life in San Antonio de Escazú. You will first meet your guide at the Offices of El Encanto de la Piedra Blanca/Codece. There you will tour the traditional sugar mill of Don Torino where, you will learn about the process of making sweets out of sugar cane. Later on, you will visit the masquerade's garage, where traditional masks are made. You will meet Don Gerardo Montoya, grandson of Pedro Arias, one of the first Costa Ricans to introduce the masquerades to the Central Valley. Once you've learned about the process of making the masks, you will have the chance to create your own. While you enjoy a typical meal, you will also learn about the conservation efforts of CODECE.
