RURALTOURISM
Copal
Just 40 minutes away from Turrialba and about 2 hours from San Jose you will have the opportunity to experience green mountains, sugar mills, forests, and waterfalls in this rural region. This region is of great importance ecologically as part of the biological corridor between the Tapantí National Park, La Amistad National Park, and La Biosfera y Macizo de la Muerte National Park. In the comfort of a tractor you will visit a cattle farm and a biodigestor and meet Don Mario and Doña Gladies who have lived in this community for their entire lives. You will then enjoy a swim in the natural pools nearby. After enjoying a delicious typical lunch in El Copal, you will learn about the conservation efforts of El Copal Conservation and Development Association. If you’re still not tired you may end the day hiking the La Mariposa trail.
