MUSEUMS
Children’s Museum
People are usually surprised to know that the castle-like structure where this museum is housed was once a prison. Upon closer inspection, the penitentiary style of the edifice becomes evident. During your visit you may take a stroll through a special wing of the museum dedicated to the building’s history. Nonetheless, the structure (remodeled by Lady Gloria Bejarano de Calderón, a pioneer in child welfare) is now a lively and colorful place filled with all kinds of interactive exhibitions made exclusively for kids. Children can touch and experience the exhibits first hand; this offers them a unique and entertaining opportunity to learn everything from earth science to Costa Rican art and history.
