MUSEUMS
Children’s Museum
The imposing castle-like building just north of downtown houses the children's museum. Believe it or not, this used to be the city's prison, and a close look reveals the penitentiary-style architecture. The remodeling of the old prison into a museum for kids was a pet project of former first Lady Gloria Bejarano de Calderón, known for her work concerning children's issues. Now the building lets children touch and experience exhibits dedicated to offering them a unique and fun experience while learning everything from earth science to Costa Rican art and history.
