YOUR ADVISORS

Helena Chavarría - Executive Director

Helena is the director of Camino Travel, Premio Incentives and Coral Technologies, and she is the creative and innovative spirit of all three companies. When it comes to management, she has the big picture of each firm and keeps an avant-garde position towards them, leading always to new inventions and added value. She is the one who keeps track of the general trends in the tourism industry. Helena plays a crucial role in defining long term planning and decisions. She adores being a mom, and likes reading, photography, decoration, traveling, and appreciating music of all kinds.

Mauricio Hernández - General Manager

Mauricio is the hands-on-business brain of Camino Travel. He is fully involved in the day-to-day activities, monitoring all the processes that occur in each department. He is a challenge taker, a problem solver and an expert product developer (some of the best ideas for "crazy" itineraries have come out of Mauricio's head). Mauricio is fond of the beaches' relaxed-lifestyle, as well as of the misty and green forests of the "Cerro de la Muerte" (near Savegre). He loves to go hiking - especially in remote areas away from civilization-; he is also a fine cook, a "wine connoisseur", and he is well known for his good sense of humor.

José Ramón Chavarría - Vice President

"Don Ramón" is a person of big ideas, and he always has a critical approach to every project and decision we plan and take in Camino Travel. He likes the small suburban villages outside San José, where fruit trees grow on the boardwalks. He admires the spirit of people in the Northern Region (Arenal Volcano) and Southern Costa Rica (San Isidro, near the Savegre Valley) for their pioneer spirit, always willing to reach their goals, and with a strong local identity. He likes to chat and meet new people - in fact, he coordinated AFS, an international student exchange program in Costa Rica -, discover new meals and flavors, and get involved in cultural projects.

Alicia Calderón – Financial and Administration Manager

Alicia sorts out all the everyday management issues in Camino Travel. She is in charge of planning and checking that everything runs smoothly in each department, and that all the projects and tasks are achieved properly and in the accurate time. She monitors the company’s overall performance and takes actions to improve it. Alicia enjoys a peaceful lifestyle, adores reading, going on holidays to the beach or to the mountains, and spending as much time as possible with her little nephews.

MEET YOUR TRAVEL EXPERTS

TOP

The Travel Design Department is where all holiday plans begin to take shape. The team of travel experts is in charge of listening to the clients' holiday wishes in the first place, and then, advising, quoting, researching new properties & activities, and organizing the best vacation program for each traveler. This department creates top quality holidays for individual travelers, and groups. The company's expertise and versatility is reflected in the type of itineraries designed for: honeymooners, families with children, adventure lovers (bikers, trekkers, whitewater rafters), students, scientists and researchers. The travel advisors tailor holidays for special interest travelers as well as organize, for instance, weddings in romantic beach settings, horticulture & gardening journeys, bird watching expeditions, golf tours… we have even created itineraries for groups of dendrologists! Meet the people who work to make your relaxation come true!

Erika Kristaly - Travel Design & Marketing Department Coordinator

Besides her everyday activities, Erika is in charge of supervising that all the travel proposals have the best quality standards and that special Camino Travel touch. She also edits Camino Travel's yearly brochure. Erika likes the Caribbean coast, especially Manzanillo's peaceful atmosphere. She is also a fan of world music, and international cinema. She enjoys all types of cultural activities, particularly going to the theater. Erika is a great hostess: she likes to receive friends at home, and cook (notably desserts). This Gemini (Ox in Chinese horoscope) loves to read about astronomy.

Fabricio Valverde - Costa Rica Travel Expert

Fabricio, forever true to his inner explorer, will never shy away from an opportunity to discover what lies off the beaten track. Not only does Fabricio seek to discover new and diverse cultures, but he also finds adventure in exploring Costa Rica’s many national parks. The Nature lover of the team, he is a walking encyclopedia for the flora and fauna throughout the country. (He’s also said to be quite the snake charmer) He even studied ecology and worked as a guide before joining our team of travel experts. From the mountain landscapes of Chirripó National Park to the more isolated beaches of Dominical, Fabricio will discover the best that every national park has to offer. Among his favorite places to visit are Manzanillo National Park, the Sarapiqui lowlands in the Caribbean, and Rio Celeste near the Tenorio Volcano. Not only is he adventurous, but he also can be quite resourceful. Give him a supply of water, a bicycle and a tent and he’ll find the perfect vacation.

Catalina Mora - Costa Rica Travel Expert

Catalina is the athlete of the team, and she brings this same energy and enthusiasm to every project that she tackles (and boy does she have a lot to tackle). Although she loves to relax with friends and family, she rarely gets a chance. Between playing basketball, studying tourism, and learning to dance it is hard for Catalina to find free time. Nevertheless she continues to take on other interests. She currently is learning to surf; the perfect activity considering that her favorite places to travel to are the beaches of Guanacaste. What better way to combine sport and leisure?

Gustavo Jimenez - Travel Expert

As a nature photographer and artist, Gustavo can’t help but create great things: including great travel itineraries. Equipped with nearly 10 years of experience working in tourism, he’s always eager to combine his knowledge of Costa Rica with his creative flare. Aside from his artistic endeavors, he also is quite an adventure seeker, and spends his free time surfing at his favorite of Guanacaste’s beaches including Tamarindo and Avellanas. Always, in the quest for the best that nature has to offer in beauty and adventure, Gustavo achieves the perfect balance between the two in each itinerary he creates.

David Brenes - Travel expert

Despite a hectic schedule as a university student (studying tourism), and one of Camino Travel’s dedicated travel experts, David manages to maintain a healthy perspective on life. With “take it easy!” as his philosophy, he’s an expert when it comes to travel and relaxation, having traveled to nearly every area within Costa Rica and parts of Nicaragua and the United States. It’s no wonder that one of his favorite beaches within Costa Rica is Cahuita, with its laid back Caribbean culture that resonates in the music, cuisine, and ambiance. Although David definitely knows how to “take it easy”, he never shies away from a challenge. He also enjoys hiking through the rugged terrain of one of his favorite national parks, Rincon de la Vieja.

Rodolfo Jiménez - Travel expert

Rodolfo is responsible for ensuring that you receive accurate information from the various suppliers. The research that this position requires might just be the perfect way to satisfy his passion for travel. Rodolfo loves the outdoors. Whether he’s surfing, mountain biking, or river rafting, he’s happiest doing activities that involve the natural environment. On the weekends, you’re most likely to find Rodolfo doing 360´s over the waves at Avellanas beach in Santa Cruz. He also loves hiking through tropical forests such as Corcovado, and mountain biking around the Barva Volcano. But, its not all fun and games with Rodolfo; he has also studied Tourism and Business Administration. As if that weren’t enough, he also hopes to take courses in ecology to become a certified nature guide.

Yajaira Arauz - Travel Expert

Equipped with an adventurous spirit and the motto “fight for your dreams!”, Yajaira embraces each challenge as a new opportunity to fulfill her sense of curiosity. With a wide array of interests and goals Yajaira has become quite accustomed to traveling the world in the quest for knowledge and new experiences. Not only has she traveled all over the world, but she’s also studied International Relations in Nicaragua, gotten a Postgraduate degree in Colombia, and is currently working on her Masters degree in Costa Rica. When she’s not focusing on intellectual pursuits or planning great travel itineraries, you can find Yajaira rafting or embarking on any type of extreme sport that will quench her sense of adventure.

Lizeth Aragón - Operations Department Coordinator

Lizeth is the one in charge of making sure all the itineraries run smoothly (transportation, pick-up times, guided services, etc.). Lizeth is the expert when it comes to bringing people together and inspiring cooperation. With a love for meeting new people and places tourism is the perfect outlet. Aside from bringing people together in great places through tourism she also likes to communicate through dance. Lizeth loves all different types of Latin American and tropical dance. Although she loves to work with people, when she visits new places she prefers more isolated and less developed destinations such as the beaches of the Osa Peninsula where snorkeling, horseback riding, and canyoning are all just a stone’s throw away.

Daniel Montero - Operations

If you think that fun and challenging are contradictory, then you should meet Daniel! An expert when it comes to finding a balance between fun and hard work, Daniel makes sure that every challenge is met with a sense of fun. As a member of the Operations team Daniel brings this energy and dedication to coordinating itineraries and making sure all trips run smoothly and with a balance between fun and adventure. Although Daniel may be the first to crack jokes in the office, he is anything but lazy. Aside from being a dedicated mountain biker and trekker, Daniel has climbed to the top of Chirripó (the highest peak in the country and his favorite National Park) 15 times and continues in his search for new challenges.

Mario Granados - Operations

Mario is the Renaissance man of the group; a perfect match for the dynamic needs of the operations team. Although he spends a good amount of time playing soccer with his friends, you can also find him hiking through Corcovado National park with his favorite hiking companion, Brasko (pet dog), or relaxing with one of the latest science fiction novels. Whether he’s absorbed in a good book or taking in Costa Rica’s natural beauty Mario is always thinking of the best way to find new and diverse experiences.

Andrea Segura - Travel expert to Information, Research and Product Development Coordinator

Andrea is an adrenaline seeker: she enjoys the two-days rafting tour with overnight at the wilderness lodge, as well as canopy tours, and horseback riding. She loves the urban life (watching TV, going to the movies, and dining out), but is also ready to face the unexpected in the wild. This is why she will always accept the challenge of adventure sports. We also have discovered her histrionic talents; she has, in fact, taken acting lessons.

Dora Fernández - Information, Research, and Product Development

Although Dora studied accounting and previously worked in Camino’s accounting department, she is now responsible for making sure that Camino Travel stays up to date with all the new tourism developments and that you get accurate information about the various suppliers. And as a natural social butterfly, communicating with suppliers is the perfect job for Dora. On the weekends you’ll find her hanging out with friends and enjoying time to unwind and take it easy. While she may be an expert in the art of relaxation, Dora is never short of energy when it comes to supporting her favorite soccer team. At a soccer game Dora’s tranquil energy turns into passionate support for Saprissa.

All the team

Meet the people that are behind each holiday. This team makes it possible to go from the process of planning and quoting an itinerary, to booking it for you, confirming that everything is in order, receiving each client at the airport, organizing and executing all the travels within Costa Rica, and making sure every payment is done on time. In the end, it all comes to one essential issue: giving our clients good memories of their journeys in Costa Rica.
