BEACHES FOR EXPERT SURFERS: Playa Grande in Guanacaste is a great option for expert surfers. On the Central Pacific Playa Hermosa and Jaco are also popular surf spots for more the more experienced. For those looking for some of the biggest waves in Costa Rica there is Playa Pavones in the South Pacific and Puerto Viejo in the Southern Caribbean offer their biggest waves during the peak of the rainy season.
