SCUBA DIVING

When it comes to scuba diving, Costa Rica offers some of the best marine ecosystems to explore. You will have the chance to swim for extended periods of time underwater, observing the beauty of this mysterious world. You will be able to swim among live coral, hundreds of fish species, turtles, and much more. Nonetheless, you must remember that a PADI license is required to participate in any kind of scuba diving activity. Diving lessons are also available under request and an experienced guide will be with you at all times during your dives. Drake Bay and Caño Island are among some of the best places for scuba diving; if you are lucky, you may even be able to spot whales. Other great spots include Playa Hermosa, Playa Ocotal and Playa del Coco in Guanacaste.

SCUBA DIVING IN NORTH PACIFIC: The best places for scuba diving in the North Pacific are the Catalina Islands. Located 6 miles from Conchal Beach – about 35-45 minutes away from Tamarindo – the Catalinas are a complex of 8 islands with underwater rock formations, offering an ideal setting for scuba diving enthusiasts. The diving rank is from 40 to 80 feet (12 to 25mts), which means that you will be able to go down to some volcanic rock deposits that attract a great variety of species. During the dry season (December – April), you may be lucky enough to spot dolphins. Remember that a PADI license is required to be able to participate in this tour.

SCUBA DIVING IN SOUTH PACIFIC: The waters in the South Pacific region of Costa Rica, particularly those surrounding Drake Bay, are undoubtedly amongst the three best diving spots in the country (if not the best). A PADI certified instructor (dive master) will accompany you during your diving expedition, giving you the chance to experience the marvels of the area’s underwater diversity in complete safety. Manta rays, snappers, trumpet fish, hammerhead sharks, white tip reef sharks and sea turtles can be spotted in these waters. The average depth ranges from 60 to 80 feet. The tour includes all equipment (tanks, masks, fins and snorkels) and full-day expeditions include a box lunch.
