RAPPELLING IN COSTA RICA
Sliding down a cliff on a rope in a controlled manner, rappelling is one of the most exciting and unique ways that visitors can experience Costa Rica’s natural wonders and waterfalls. You will descend along a vertical surface such as a cliff by sliding down a belayed rope through a series of short backward leaps while facing the surface and secured through a device that provides friction to control the descent. Some of the most popular places for rappellig are in places where there are waterfalls such as Los Chorros waterfalls in Alajuela and the waterfall in La Fortuna.
RAPPELLING TOUR IN HACIENDA POZO AZUL: Located in La Vírgen de Sarapiquí, Hacienda Pozo Azul is a family ranch that has been turned into an adventure center. Upon arrival, a tractor will take you for a 15 minute ride to the edge of the Sarapiquí river canyon, where the 90-ft wall falls to the river. There is a parallel line to hold onto a guide on the way down. You can do the descent up to three times. There is a trail around the hill that will take you back up every time.
WATERFALLS RAPPELLING TOUR IN ARENAL: La Fortuna in Costa Rica is filled with waterfalls and lush forest is the perfect place to take advantage of a rappel tour. Upon arrival to the site you will meet your guide who will acquaint you with all of the safety equipment. Then your guide will assist you down a series of 8 waterfalls that get gradually bigger as you go along until you meet your last challenge; the whopping 210 foot 3 stage waterfall.
RAPPELLING TOUR IN TURRIALBA: This 3 ½ hour tour is located in the midst of Turrialba’s rainforest in Calle Chirraca. The tour begins with an introduction to your guides who will familiarize you with the safety equipment. Then you will descend 4 waterfalls. The tour continues while you zip across 4 canopy cables, descend two tall trees, and walk across a hanging bridge of 132 feet.
