ADRENALINE ADVENTURE

CAVING/ SPELUNKING

When it comes to caving/spelunking, you will have the opportunity to explore the mysterious underground world of Costa Rica, a dark environment that hosts a collection of unique wildlife. During our tours, you will be given all the necessary equipment and will be accompanied by an experienced guide at all times. Once inside the caves you may be able to find marine fossils as well different species of bats, spiders and crickets. The caves in Costa Rica that are open to exploration are mostly made up of limestone rocks, stalactites, stalagmites and corals. The best spots to practice spelunking are the Venado caves as well are the Arenal Volcano area.

VENADO CAVE TOUR: Approximately 2 miles (3 kmm) from the town of Venado, you will reach the entrance of these caves (discovered in 1962). Upon arrival, you will be given a helmet and flashlight, before walking down a hill to the entrance of the caves. You will be immersed in this wet, underground world for about 1½ hours, where you will have the chance to appreciate different mineral formations. Despite the darkness and the humidity, there is also life in this environment: insects, spiders and bats are to be encountered. Once the tour ends, you will hike up the hill again for a shower and a change of clothes before returning to your hotel.
