SOFT ADVENTURE

BIKING

Biking TourThis is an ideal way to explore Costa Rica’s diverse landscapes and keep in shape.  You can gear yourself up to pedal through a lush rainforest, a beautiful beach or down a quiet road. Great places for biking include Manzanillo, Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, Manuel Antonio, Monteverde, Turrialba, Arenal and more.

ARENAL LAKE:The best way to explore the beautiful rainforest around Arenal Lake is by pedaling through it. This challenging ride allows you to gear yourself up on a quiet country road. The routh begins at the lake’s dam and continues down the gravel roads on the border of Arenal Volcano National Park. Since this tour is physically demanding, we recommend it for moderately fit travelers.

HACIENDA POZO AZUL:This is 2000-acre family ranch (located in La Virgen de Sarapiquí) has been turned into an adventure center for tourists. The many internal trails and solitary back roads in the area are just what you need for real adventure on mountain bikes. The trails provide the ideal route and length of ride; trained guides with radio communication and support vehicles will provide a safer journey on this beautiful and wild scenery.

IRAZU BIKING: You will take a bus ride to Irazu Volcano, one of Costa Rica’s most interesting and magnificent volcanoes. From the National Park you will ride down challenging trails past lush primary forest to Turrialba Volcano, located 3 hours away. The tour ends at one of Costa Rica’s few archaeological sites, Guayabo Monument.

CERRO DE LA MUERTE:This ride down Cerro de la Muerte (one of Costa Rica’s highest peaks) will take you through the Tarrazu region where much of the country’s coffee is produced. The ride starts with a journey through temperate forest at the top of the mountain and will end at the tropical beaches of Quepos. This bike ride is recommended for those with experience in mountain biking since it is pretty advanced.
